Our Neighbourhood

The friendly market town of Morpeth is only 24km north of Newcastle upon Tyne and within easy striking distance of the beautiful Northumberland coast.  It sits on the River Wansbeck and is surrounded by ancient woods.
Our house is in a quiet neighbourhood but is only a 5 minute walk  from the centre of town which offers lots of high street stores such as Marks and Spencer, Waterstones and Body Shop plus a number of independent shops.  You will also find plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs.  Morpeth leisure centre has a gym, sports hall and swimming pool and the local park has a great play area for young children.  There are lots of lovely walks from our doorstep along the river or in the local woods.
Morpeth has a railway station and is close to the A1 so day trips to Durham, York and Edinburgh are very easy. If you are interested in history Hadrian's Wall and Beamish (the UK's largest open air museum) are less than an hour's drive away.  Newcastle is only half an hour away by bus, train or car and is a great place to spend the day or evening.  The famous quayside with the Baltic modern art gallery, Sage music centre and Tyne bridges is a popular destination.  But the city also has lots of museums, great shops and eateries, two cinemas and no less than five theatres!
