Flat downtown Trieste - Northeastern Italy

The flat (50 m2) is located downtown Trieste in walking distance from the main historical places and the Trieste Central train station.

The flat was recently renovated with a large lounge/kitchen living area with couch/double bed, a bedroom with a double bed and a child’s bed, and a large bathroom with a shower. Television is available upon request and a computer and WI-FI are present. If previously agreed, we can exchange a car and/or a scooter.

Trieste is located 140 km east of Venice, which can be reached easily by train (approximately an hour and 30 minutes; tickets cost about 13 euros one way). From Trieste you can also easily do day trips to other important north eastern Italian towns such as Venice (train ride 1h and 30 minutes) Padua, Verona, Vicenza and Treviso. In addition, you can spend a day in Udine or Gorizia in Friuli Venezia Giulia, visit the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Aquileia or the Friulian Dolomites or visit the Collio, a world famous region for white wines. If interested, you can reach in a day trip Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, or one of many spa resorts of neighboring Slovenia or even explore the Istrian peninsula in Croatia. Trieste is particularly nice in summer, because of its extensive shoreline in which in summer and fall you can snorkel or dive in one of the first Mediterranean sea national parks close to the Miramare castle.

Our Neighbourhood

Lonely Planet, the largest travel guidebook publisher in the world, in 2012 published a list of “10 of the world’s unsung places”. This list includes cities which usually don’t make it onto tourists’ must-see lists and are largely undiscovered for a variety of reasons, including geographical position and their proximity to more glamorous and well-known cities. Trieste, was the top city on the list.
Described as a “cultural melting pot,” Trieste, added to the Italian peninsula in 1918, borders Slovenia and is situated on a spit of land thrust into the Adriatic Sea. The city has a distinct Central European atmosphere and the neoclassical architecture and Viennese-style cafés recall its past as the sole port of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. As Lonely Planet describes, Trieste “retains an enticing, elegiac sense of the past”. In addition, the city was the site where James Joyce began writing Ulysses, instead of in his native Dublin.
The city offers visitors a variety of sites to explore including Roman ruins, castles, churches and interesting museums. The Miramare Castle in Trieste offers a fairy tale setting, built in the 19th century and offering a 22-hectare cliff and seashore park. Trieste also offers easy access to neighboring Slovenia and Croatia
