Charming house and garden, 20 minutes by bus from downtown (exchange settled for summer 2017)

(texte en français ci-dessous)
Our charming, cozy, 100-year-old bungalow with its sweet garden is located in the vibrant Phinney Ridge neighborhood, just 1 mile/1.6 km north of the zoo and 5 miles/8 km north of the city center. We love our home for its warmth and color and its quirky art. It includes a comfortable living room with TV, dining room with hand-painted chairs, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, and art studio. Just steps off the art studio is the patio with its colorful dining area, and the little garden with wicker chairs for basking in the light and greenery. The garden includes grapes, persimmons, blueberries, and kiwis.

We've lived here 28 years and love the friendliness and accessibility of the neighborhood. There are shops and restaurants in easy walking distance, and it's a 5-minute walk to the bus stop which will take you to vibrant downtown Seattle (a 20-minute ride). Seattle is a perfect base for exploring the marvels of Nature in the Pacific Northwest--Mt. Rainier National Park, the San Juan Islands, the Olympic Peninsula and its mountains, rugged beaches, and temperate old-growth rainforests. We have in-city parks nearby ranging from Green Lake (Seattle's most popular park), where people of every age come to walk the 3-mile/4.8-km circuit, to Carkeek and Golden Gardens with their beaches, to the wilds of Discovery Park. And in just an hour's drive you can be hiking in the Cascade mountains!

About Our Family

We love to travel and learn! We're retired 2+ years from our local tour business where we enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. Kathleen also spent 25 years in social services. We've made 20 visits to France (for 10 years we led one-week walking tours of Paris once or twice a year) and never grow tired of exploring the country. We'd love to offer short-term hospitality in our guest room, as well as exchange homes during our travels. Due to allergies we cannot exchange with a home where cats (or some dogs) live or have recently lived (we are okay with poodle, bichon frisé, some terriers, other non-shedding dogs).
