House in San Diego, USA

I am a veteran Kindergarten teacher of 37 years just retired.  With 11 successful house exchanges over the years, I look forward to adding more adventures as the years roll by.  My home is a nearly 100 year old Spanish revival house located in a quiet canyon, but centrally located in the heart of the city of beautiful San Diego. Although near the airport, we are not under the flight path, so the home is in a very peaceful setting.  I have owned the house for 33 years and have made many renovations that add to its charm.  The house has most creature comforts, but it remains small yet cozy.  I have recently remodeled my homes that there are 2 bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and the other with a King-sized bed. The master bathroom has also been renovated. Most of the plants surrounding the house are succulents and require very little care or water. The deck and patio have a barbeque and are ideal for entertaining and relaxing.  A recent deck extension now gives a fabulous bay and airport view! The neighbors are extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful.  San Diego is located on the Pacific Ocean near the border of Mexico.  My home is within 5-10 minutes of most of the frequently visited tourist areas including Sea World, Balboa Park, San Diego Bay, Coronado, The Gaslamp District, and numerous lovely beaches.  I would be willing to exchange my 2017 Subaru Forester which can hold up to 5 people.
My home has a basement rental apartment attached downstairs.  I rent this large one-bedroom unit separately for vacation visitors.  This space can sleep up to 6 people.  When the apartment is not already rented, I can make arrangements to offer these accommodations as well.  I can also make arrangements to offer the apartment instead of the upstairs house if the exchange is non-simultaneous.  I will be happy to send photos of the apartment if requested.

About Our Family

I am a retired elementary teacher and my boyfriend is a retired attorney. We have both found ways to travel worldwide, even as children. We sometimes enjoy having our adult daughters join us for some of the travel adventures.

Lifestyle

We are active adults who enjoy hiking and sailing. We recently sailed Tom's 44 foot yacht from San Diego to Seattle. The boat now has a new home in a marina in Puget Sound so that we can visit her there and enjoy sailing around the San Juan Islands when the weather is welcoming. We have a wide range of interests that include the arts and music and experiences in urban and rural settings.
