If you decided to be our exchange partner, I can guarantee that you would be living in a most special and fantastic place:
Gimmelwald is a very special village high in the mountains (1400 m over sea level ).
It is surrounded by the highest peaks of the Swiss Alps. Through our windows you have a spectacular view on famous mountains like Jungfrau and Schilthorn (where one of the James-Bond-movies has been turned.) If you like nature you would be excited by this area. There are plenty of possibilities for mountain hiking tours, where you can see romantic scenery with cliffs, waterfalls, glaciers and of course the enormous variety of alpine plants and animals. Gimmelwald is absolutely quiet, because it is a traffic free village. No street, but only a footpath leads up the 500 m high cliff, on which the village is situated. As all other people who live here, we leave our cars (a Polo and a Opel Astra ) down in the valley and take the cable-car to come up here. If convenient for all of us, we could think about a car exchange. Our house is situated 300 m away from the cable-car station. It is a wooden traditional chalet, dating from the beginning of the century. But of course the interior is modern with all comfort. In the basement you can find the entrance and the laundry-room. On the first floor there are the kitchen, the dining room, the living-room, a bathroom and our office. On the second floor are four bedrooms with all in all 10 sleeping places and the bathroom with bath and shower. In the basement of the house we have a separate one-room studio-apartment with private bathroom and private kitchen. On the side facing the spectacular mountains, you can find a balcony. On the other side of the house we have a balcony. There is also a lovely garden, where you can enjoy the view.
From here you can do countless trips to interesting tourist attractions, like museums, organized visits to cheese factories, guided climbing tours, caves,... In about 30 minutes by car you reach Interlaken. This famous tourist destination is situated between two lakes, where one can practice all kinds of water-sports and do scenic cruises with publioc boats. There is also an attractive public swimming pool. In one hour's ride you can reach Bern, the capital of Switzerland, or Lucerne, another very pretty small town.

About Our Family
Dear intervac friends,
as you are also a member of INTERVAC home exchange organization, we wished to ask you, if you would be interested to exchange your home with ours next fall (between September 25th and October 9th) for approximately two weeks. My husband Olov (60) and I (Maria, 58) would like to do this exchange together with the family of our daughter Carina, her partner Teddy and their kids Jascha and Alina.
Olov and I are both teachers. He is already retired, whereas I'm still having my job in a primary school. We have three adult children. Carina is the youngest (27). She works as a nurse in a hospital. Her partner, Teddy, works as a mechanic, but he is also a helicopter pilot. Their children attend ground-school and kindergarten. We would be very enthousiastic if we could find a place to do a home exchange close to the sea, somewhere where the temperatures are still warm in September/October. Maybe, with a lot of luck, we could also find a place with a pool, no matter if private or public.
Lifestyle
We are people who are flexible and curious to discover new places. Our hobbies are music, reading, languages, biking, hiking, ...
Besides nature we also like to visit cities with their museums and cultural events.
