About Our Family

Welcome to our home! I am Floor, 50, a teacher of arts at a highschool for kids that are difficult to raise. I love to do some pottery at home and enjoy our vegetablegarden.. I also love Martijn, my husband, 48, working at the government and who loves to play piano, jogg around the lake nearby and play the guitar. Both of us love our kids, Stef and Lotte and our cat, who mostly lives outdoors, Skippy. Lucky for you he poops outside!
5 years ago we moved to this neighbourhood because there are a lot of kids around, and there are a lot of safe places to play close to the house. Although the house is not very big, we managed to use every inch of it. We also love our patio that has a hangmat and offers a nice climat through summer. We managed to make a litlle garden out of it, so please: water our plants, we love them a lot!

Lifestyle

We do have a busy live, being sportive, musical and creative. That is why we like the place were we live: close to the sloterplas and to public transport. Schiphol is just 15 minutes by train, and to enjoy culture it takes you 10 minutes to go to the citycentre. Although we mostly go by bike, which you can use as well. In which case you bike through the Rembrandtpark and the famous Vondelpark and are within 20 minutes at the stedelijk museum. Boatrental and swimmingpool are also within 10 minutes distance. As is a great sunset at the lake, 5 minutes walking distance. And with public transport you are at the beach in 40 minutes. Even in winter Amsterdam is a lot of fun: there are some free iceskatingplaces through town and especially the Westergasfabriek has a lot of winterevents.
Our house is comfortable but also used a lot by kids. This means that, although we love art and teach our kids to be careful with our stuff, we also now that kids need space to hang around. That is why we use our backroom as a second music/ televisionroom. There is also WIFI and a Wii. And although footbalplaying is not allowed in our house, we try to live the easy way.
We do have a dishwasher, oven and a washingmachine, but dry our laundry the oldfashioned way: either outside or in our hallway upstairs. No microwave.
Our kids love our cat. Skippy needs to be fed, but it also such a loved cat by the neighbourhood that, especially in summertimes our cat sleeps at different households. [illegally] It is possible you don't see him for 24 hours, but he always loves to come back. Please be nice for our plants too.
