House in ROMNEY MARSH Kent, Great Britain
We are retired civil ervants ( 68 and 70 years old - in 2010) who enjoy travelling - we have made more than 40 exchanges. We like to walk, visit art galleries and museums etc.
Our house was built for us in 1999. It is Swedish style, lots of wood, triple glazing, comfortable and spacious. It sits on about one fifth acre down an unmade up lane in the centre of the village. There are 4 other houses further down the lane after which it peters out into a footpath to the sea (3 Miles). We are 6 miles from the sea by road.
We are currently looking for an exchange of 3 months in Perth W Australia somewhere between December and May 2015/6

Our Neighbourhood

Newchurch village is on Romney Marsh which is basically sheep farming country about 60 miles from London. It is small, about 100 houses, and has neither a shop nor a pub (there are pubs in neighbouring villages) but does have a restaurant and a 13th century church - in use. The nearest shops are in the small town of New Romney, about 5 miles away. It has, among others, a butcher, baker, greengrocer, hardware store and a small supermarket plus 2 pubs and several restaurants. The nearest large supermarket is at about 10 miles. The photos show the church and the old school house.

About Our Family
These photos were taken on our Calgary exchange in 2007.
Lifestyle
Photos - another local church and The Royal Military Canal (built to keep out Napoleon!)
We are about 30 miles from the Cathedral City of Canterbury and within easy reach of many attractive and interesting small towns eg Tenterden, Rye, in Kent and East Sussex. There are also a number of National Trust properties and English Heritage castles in the area.
We are about 20 minutes from Ashford International station with trains to London (38 minutes), to Paris, about 2 hours, and to Brussels with connections to the rest of Europe from Paris, Brussels, or Lille. There are also budget airlines offering cheap flights to Europe from Gatwick and Stansted.
When exchanging in Europe we wish to drive rather than fly as we invested in the Channel Tunnel and only have to pay £2 for a return journey. This is therefore our choice.
