Thank you for your interest. I have found two exchange partners for spring and fall 2024. Maybe I'll find an exchange home with a walk to the sea for the beginning of summer... and what are your wishes for 2025?

Welcome!
I'm happy to introduce you my home and city!
Our single-family-home is situated in a nice peaceful family house area. It is near shops, museums, theatres, restaurants, train and busses running to Zurich airport, St. Moritz, Davos, Flims/Laax (1h) It is close to Italy, Austria and Germany (Lake of Constance, lake of Zurich 1h)). Chur is one of the hottest cities of Switzerland. And you have many possibilities for all kind of mountain sports like easy walks, hiking, climbing, down hill mountainbiking, skiing, snowboarding and many more .

Our home, build 1939  has got three bedrooms, living room and a kitchen. There is one bathroom upstairs, a seperate toilet downstairs and two balconies to enjoy the sunset. A garden (a kind of jungle, apple-, mirabellen-, cherie- and plumtrees, rasperrie, blackberrie, graps and figes!) to enjoy the time outdoor and a small quite way to play badminton or streetsoccer.
A few steps away the edge of the forest begins where you can do some jogging, hiking for your first mountain peak, or walk to the historic town and to the „Kathedrale Maria Himmelfahrt“ build in 1280.
The walk down town takes about five minutes. A bus reaches the town centre and the train station in five minutes.

Chur (pronounced /koor/) is the capital of the Graubünden canton, and is also the oldest continuously settled city in Switzerland. Originally it was believed that the history of the city went back approximately 5,000 years – ‘Chur’ comes from the Celtic word kora or koria (clan, tribe). However, recently a landlord who was building an underground garage in the neighborhood below the cathedral got the surprise of his life when they discovered archeological remains that dated back approximately 13,000 years.
In Roman times, as well as more recently, Chur was an important outpost along the north-south trade routes. Although many parts of the original Roman city wall are now gone, there are still remnants around the old city center, as well as a couple of the gate towers. Much of the old town has buildings dating from 1464 to the mid 1500’s.

Language
Reflecting its history, the city is trilingual, speaking a mix of German, Italian, and Romansh (a Latin derivative).
Here are some words in Romansh - easy to learn for you:

curiosity = MIRVEGLIAS
gift = REGAL
Loveaffair = AFFERA D'AMUR

Who is who in Graubünden
Even Graubünden generate a Group of famos People ( Artist Giacometti, Segantini, womans right Hortenisa v. Salis, architect Peter Zumthor, Hela Tscharner, Gion Camidada, Robert Maillart..)
the world most famos Grison-Girl AND Boy are
"HEIDI " and the "SCHELLEN-URSLI"

Geography
The city sits in a gorgeous glacial valley where the Plessur and Rhine rivers meet. Warmed by the föhn southern winds, Chur has the HIGHEST mean temperature in Switzerland. It also has its own summer/winter recreation area served directly by cable car from the town center – the Hausberg Brambrüesch rises to 2,176 meters above the town.

Approximately 90 minutes from Zürich, Chur sits at the gateway to Graubünden – home of the most famous skiing resort towns in Switzerland. Additionally, the Bernina and Glacier Express trains depart from Chur’s train station, as does the Bernina PostBus.

About Our Family

Grüazi mitanand

Welcome! We are a family - creativ and open minded .
We have two daughters and two sons.

All four are independent and have moved out.
And I'm very proud to be a grandma of 6 little miracles.

I would love to explore the world, cultur, food, natur... and learn how life will be anywhere else. Perhaps my sister will join me.
I love cozy evenings on the sofa and adventures in nature. That's why we treat the environment as well as the home - in every country on earth - with respect

Important: We own two cats which are very independent. The cats don't need to fed every day.
