House in VILLAFRANQUEZA, ALICANTE, Spain
For summer 2013 we already have finished an exchange agreement
Our home consists of two seperated buildings (with private garden, entry and swimming pool each), the one we live in and a second one which we use as a guesthouse for our families and friends.
This second house (120qm²; photos in the catalogue) is the one we offer for exchange because its better prepared, but of course you would have keys of both buildings so our books, compact discs, videos, toys, kitchen utensils or what ever you might miss are at you entire disposal.
We are sure that you will enjoy the house a lot since it is a little jewel with traditional white mediterranian walls, terracotta floors and timber windows, regained elements of old houses that were pulled down ( like lattices of wrought iron and timber beams), plenty of light and a luxurious vegetation. Part of the furniture (nearly everything is antique) and the kitchen furnishings have been restaured with a special painting technique.
Downstairs we have a large kitchen which has all the usual facilities like dishwasher, microwave, cooking-stove, refrigerator with deepfreeze compartment, toaster, coffee-mashine... and a door to the garden and the terrace where it is lovely to eat out. The kitchen is also open towards the dining room. Here you can enjoy cooking and eating. There is as well a large sitting room with a studio couch, an open fire – not that you will need it in summer - and TV (Cd- and DVDplayer if you like).
Besides there is a bathroom with bath-tub and a laundry room with washingmashine and drier.
Upstairs we have two double bedrooms (one is large, the other smaller) and a bathroom with shower. If necessary we could put an additional bed or a baby bed into the bigger bedroom.
Outside there is a large and well-stocked garden (bougainvilleas, palms, orangetrees, pomegranates...) with a patio area, a swimming pool, a big lawn and a BBQ. The garden is closed and totally private.
House and garden are roomy with plenty of space for people to enjoy their holidays.

Our Destination Wish List
Our Town and Neighbourhood
We are living in the former orchard of Alicante. There are lots of big gardens with old trees (orange-, lemon- and almond trees, palms, jacarandas, pinetrees...). Villafranqueza, originaly a small village, nowadays forms part of the suburbs of Alicante. But it remains tranquil and conserved a lot of its village character. Local people are very friendly and the village offers you a small supermarket and some other shops, some bakeries, a chemist´s shop, two banks and a service station as well as some restaurants and pubs. Whithin seven minutes walking distance from our house you reach the center of Villafranqueza and the busstop where every twenty minutes parts a bus to Alicante center, the yacht harbour and the city beach .
The region of Alicante is wellknown for its extended white sand beaches. Apart from the city beach you reach the 12 kilometers long beach of San Juan by car within twenty minutes and in the south of Alicante you can find more and unspoilt beaches with dunes and small pinewoods.
The city of Alicante is dominated by the beautyfully restaurated castle of Santa Barbara. Below the castle-hill there is the old town of Alicante, in part small picturesque white houses with village charme, in part zone of nightlife with pubs and discotheques. Also very interesting is the lively and modern harbour zone with its shops, pubs and restaurants which you find in front of the yacht harbour. Everywhere, in the old as well as in the new part of the city, outdoor coffee-houses and pubs or just a bench invite you to sit down and to enjoy the sun and the streetlife of Alicante.
Our home is only a few minutes from the motorway so travelling is easy:
Costa Blanca - Benidorm with Terra Mitica, Mundomar and Aqualandia (leisure parks): 45 minutes;
Altea, Calpe, Denia...: 30 – 60 minutes;
Santa Pola and Campello where you can buy the freshest fish directly from the fishermen: 30 minutes;
Murcia 1 hour; Valencia 2 hours; Granada 3,5 hours; Madrid 4,5 hours.
There are also excellent train and bus connections.
You can find several golf courses in Alicante and along the coast.
The city airport is 15 minutes away.
There are lots of cheap air connections via easyJet, Ryanair , Air Berlin...
Our car is a reliable two years old Volkswagen Touran, fine for motorway driving and around town.
