House with idyllic garden in Freiburg: Green City & Black Forest, Germany
From our wooden house (built in 2009) it takes 20 minutes by bicycle (the most sensible mode of transport in and around town) to the historic center of Freiburg and only 30 minutes by train to be in the middle of the wonderful Black Forest. It is also close to France (Alsace region) and Switzerland. There are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom on the upper floor, a cozy living room with open kitchen and terrace, another bathroom and a study room on the ground floor. We have a large garden with enough space to play and relax. The neighborhood is very quiet and friendly.

About the neighborhood
Freiburg-St.Georgen
[please note that the location of the marker is not exact!]
We are living in a quiet district of Freiburg, called "St. Georgen" with a population of c. 12.000 persons (Freiburg: ca. 230.000).
Within 5 minutes walking distance you are in the middle of vineyards and forests on our local hill called "Schönberg", were you have a beautiful view on the city, with 2 nice restaurants (Jesuitenschloss and Schönberger Hof).
In St. Georgen you find (nearly) everything you need: many beautiful hiking trails, a supermarket and other shops, a public swimming pool, several outdoor-playgrounds and a commercial indoor-playground and even a small petting zoo...
For more "spectacular" attractions you just have to go to the center with its beautiful "Münster" cathedral and lots of historical buildings and streets.
Freiburg has a lot to offer-no matter whether you are interested in a stroll in the historic old town to learn about the culture and history of the city, whether you would like to spend some time in one of the many cafes and cosy pubs, or whether you would like to indulge in Badisch cuisine and hospitality.
Freiburg Green City
The City of Freiburg is internationally well known for its environmental approach with the City‘s Resource Capital: Nature
The Freiburg forest is the largest communal forest in Germany, and is regarded as the municipal "green lungs" of Freiburg and the most important recreational area near the city, with approximately 4 million visitors annually.
Its location in the foothills of the Black Forest, its natural abundance and its excellent infrastructure (with 450 kilometres of forest paths, sports, adventure and instructional trails, barbecue and playground areas, look-out towers, and lakes) – all of this makes the forest a key element in the Freiburg tourism experience.

We are a family of five: Marcus is a forester at the state Forest Research Institute, Alexandra manages day care at a primary school, Nils, Jannik and Anouk alread left the nest but might join us during holidays.
We have a friendly cat called Diego that loves to be petted or play with the kids. It would be great if you could feed him once or twice a day, but this could also be done by a neighbor. If you don't like cats, he can stay in the basement, where he has a catflap and a place to sleep.
