Our house is spacious, in a quiet residential neighbourhood but with shops, pubs and restaurants very close. Country walks are also on the doorstep.
We have a large garden that is very comfortable for dining outside in the summer.
We are now retired/resting from teaching and have more time to embark on exchanging at any time of the year and will consider short and much longer options.

About the neighborhood
We are a 10 minute walk from the centre of Tunbridge Wells which is a town of approx 50,000. It is very self-contained with all the shops that anyone would need, including a variety of supermarkets, and restaurants within walking distance.
Railway links to London are excellent with the station 15 minutes walk from home. Trains run every 15 minutes at peak times into Charing Cross or Canon Street stations.
There are various historical attractions nearby including Chartwell (Winston Churchill); Hever, Scotney, Bodiam and Leeds castles; and Batemans (Rudyard Kipling). Wakehurst Place, Shefield Park and Sissinghurst gardens are close by. The North and South Downs are easily accessible; as is the coast with Eastbourne and Brighton both within an hours drive.

The pictures don't do it justice - it's absolutely beautiful and such a lovely homeswap.
We had a wonderful time in Tunbridge Wells and would thoroughly recommend Philip and Caroline to anyone seeking an exchange in a large comfortable house in a very interesting town. Their house has all the facilities you need and easy parking. It is within walking distance of Tunbridge Wells which is a historic town with lots of things to see and do and plenty of cafe's, pubs, restaurants etc. The area is also very beautiful and is well situated for visits to many attractions.....castles, countryside, breweries, vineyards, seaside, cathedrals etc. whether by car, train or bus. The information given in their listing is accurate and they leave lots of instructions and information for you to help you enjoy their home and environs.

We are a family of 4: 2 adults, Philip and Caroline, both now retired after teaching at a nearby Prep School, and our children who have both left university and are settled in work. Occasionally we might ask if one or other can join us with their respective partners.
We have made many exchanges all over Europe (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sardinia, Scotland, Spain and Sweden) and further afield (Canada, USA and Australia) for periods ranging from four days to six weeks.
We are keen to explore new destinations but are pleased to revisit countries. We have actually exchanged with Sweden nine times and The Netherlands about sixteen times. We tend to drive to closer locations whilst exchanging cars for longer trips. We are close to Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted airports.
