We would like to exchange homes for 2-3 weeks in the given period. Norway would be great, we'd love to meet up with friends who live in Bergen. If you are interested in exchanging homes in other periods, please just contact us, and we can see if we can make a match another time? |
Sunny family home in charming Zomergem, nearby Ghent, Bruges, Antwerp and the North Sea Coast.
WELCOME TO ZOMERGEM!
Make yourself comfortable in our home, garden and neighbourhood, and go and have cultural, sportive, gastronomic and nature experiences within short distance!
ZOMERGEM is a cosy village with all facilities you need. We live in a low traffic, childfriendly residential area, in a cul de sac street. Children can easily play on the streets, there is a football field and a nice playground where children and youngsters of the neighbourhood gather and play. There is a basketball goal on the streets, if you want to throw a ball.
Our HOUSE is built in 2012. It is bright and contains large open spaces, and is very suitable for big families.
On the GROUNDFLOOR there is the garage (with bikes all sizes), toilet, bureau, living room with piano & guitar, a reading area and open kitchen with dining table.
On the FIRST FLOOR is the main bath room (with shower, bath, toilet), the master bed room (with double bed) and two children's rooms (Bastijn's room's got a highsleeper and can sleep 2 people), the shower room (with shower, two washing machines and a tumble drier) and a dressing room where you can store your own clothes.
On the SECOND FLOOR there are two children's rooms (Jasper's room has a double bed, Ambroos' room has two single beds), a study room (where we can put an extra mattress),a toilet, and an open play area for the children.
The back GARDEN is about 160 m2 and south orientated. It is very quiet, you can easily relax here and enjoy bird songs while looking at the goats and chicken, and sometimes donkeys, behind the backyard.
For long distance travelling, CAR exchange can be practical. We drive a VW Transporter (long version); this is an 8-seater. We need a car with 6 seats if we travel with our family. We do not mind driving long distances, though.

Zomergem is situated between Ghent and Bruges, in the province of East Flanders, in the touristic area known as "Meetjesland".

Zomergem is a cosy and charming village, yet all facilities are here: there are several supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, a public swimming pool, tennis courts, etc. The surroundings are known for cycling, mountainbiking and walking. There are several rivers, streams and forests nearby. Zomergem is very nearby big autoroutes to Antwerp (45 min.), to Brussels (45 min.) and to the North sea (45 min.). Since Belgium is a very small country, even the borders of France and the Netherlands are not that far away.
Ghent is only 15 kilometers away. Ghent is known to be the third most authentic city of the world, by the National Geographic Traveler Magazine. Each year in July, there is a 10 days during festival in the whole city, offering all kinds of cultural activities for children, youngsters and adults. The Festival will take place from 16 to 25th of July in 2016.

Bruges is known for its medieval city centre, being the "Venice of the North". The whole city is protected as World Unesco Heritage. The city offers many historical attractions but also many activies for both young and old, during all seasons.

Antwerp is not that far neither. A wonderful city for a stroll, lots of musea to visit, the Schelde-river passing through which makes Antwerp a very big harbour... Look for activities on this site: http://www.visitantwerpen.be/
