Sweden, Norway, mountains of central Europe, central Germany and Brittany are high on our wishlist. |
Cosy home in charming old village Gasselte. Near Groningen: 'One of the best places to visit in Europe'.
Come and experience the beauty of the Dutch countryside in the province of Drenthe. Our village Gasselte is located in two areas of outstanding natural and cultural beauty: UNESCO Global Geopark De Hondsrug, and National Park Drentsche Aa.
We are a family with two boys aged 12 and 15, two rabbits and two cats. And we love the intervac concept! We answer all invitations, don't hesitate to send us a message.
Our home is a small but cosy detached house with 3 bedrooms, built in 1930, with a big garden (1700 m2). As we bought it in 2019 in a very bad state, we are working hard on the renovation of the house and garden. It's not perfect yet, but we are getting there!
Lay-out of the house:
Downstairs:
- livingroom with home cinema
- separate kitchen/diner
- small bathroom with shower, toilet and sink
- bedroom/study (bed 1.40 x 2.00)
- Hallway with Siebren's atelier under the stairs
Upstairs:
- master bedroom (bed 1.60 x 2.00)
- boys' room with two large box beds (beds 1.20 x 2.00) and sofabed (1.20 x 1.90)
- bathroom with sink and toilet
In the attic of the large garage, our boys have their own play room, filled with LEGO. There are also two spare beds located there. The garden offers several places to sit and has a lot of shade in summer. Nature trail De Hamerlanden starts just at the other side of the road.
There is a trampoline, soccer goal and self built Hobbit hole in the garden and of course we have lots of toys for children and board games for grown ups. Lots of reading material (also in English and some in German), DVD's and xbox/playstation games.
Please note: small children are welcome, but our house is not toddler proof. Our garden is not entirely enclosed by a fence, they can walk on to the road from the driveway. We don't have fences at the top/bottom of the stairs.
To get a taste of the countryside, check out the northern provinces of the Netherlands from above:
