Quiet house in the city centre of Caen, Normandy.
Our House is a 1950s house situated on a quiet one way street. About 110 m2 on 3 levels. We have a fully equiped kitchen, two bedrooms, one sofa bed in the living room, two toilets, one bathroom.
There is also a terrace at the back of the house overlooking the garden (100m2).
The best way to reach Caen if you arrive by plane is probably to take a "Ouibus" or "Flixbus", taking you straight from the airports -Orly or Roissy- to Caen bus station. Then a short ride by bus or tram, and you'll be home!
You can take a train too, with a connection in Paris St Lazare station. Paris is just 2 hours by train from Caen.
The house is close to shops and located near a large park, "la Vallée des Jardins".

The Memorial Museum is worth a visit if you're interested in World War 2 and the Cold War. (It's the most visited museum in France outside Paris) It is a 20-minute walk through the park to get there.
You can reach the city center on foot in less than 20 minutes through the castle grounds, or by bus - bus stop at the end of the street, or tram by the University grounds.
Caen is 20kms from the sea.
Our favorite beach: Merville-Franceville, family friendly and very easy to access, an international kitesurf spot!
Ouistreham is also very pleasant.
It is possible to go there by bike on the cycling routes along the canal, in around 1 hour.
20 min from Bayeux, a great little town with buildings from the Middle Ages, and of course the famous Tapestry telling about William the Conqueror invasion of Britain! (1066)
30 min from Arromanches to start your discovery of the landing beaches.
40 min from Suisse Normande, a paradise for hiking, kayaking and cycling (Clécy, Thury-Harcourt, ...)
1 hour drive from Deauville, Honfleur and also 1 hour for Le Havre, for those interested in post WW2 reconstruction architecture (Auguste Perret architecture)
1 hour also to access the bay of Mt St Michel.
1 hour and 40 minutes drive to Rouen.
1h45 by car to reach Brittany, St Malo.
...and about 2 hours by train to have a day-out in Paris!

La maison est proche des commerces et située près d'un grand parc, "la Vallée des Jardins"
Le musée du Mémorial (Musée le plus visité en province) est à 20 minutes à pied à travers le parc. Vous pouvez rejoindre le centre ville à pied en 20 min à travers les espaces du château.
Caen est à 20kms de la mer.
Notre plage préférée: Merville-Franceville, familiale et très facile d'accès, un spot international de kitesurf!
Ouistreham est également très agréable.
Possibilité de s'y rendre en vélo par les sites cyclables en 1 heure environ.
20 min de Bayeux.
30 min d'Arromanches pour débuter votre découverte des plages du débarquement.
40 min de la Suisse Normande, un paradis pour la randonnée et le vélo (Clécy, Thury-Harcourt,...)
1 heure de route de Deauville, Honfleur et aussi 1 h pour le Havre.
1h également pour accéder à la baie du Mt St Michel.
1h45 de voiture pour rejoindre la Bretagne, St Malo.

About the neighborhood
Our house is just a couple of minutes away from a large park.
You can walk across the parks to "le Mémorial", WW2 museum,
You can walk to markets almost every other day of the week to discover the great products from Normandy (cheese, of course, and loads of different fish and seafood, etc.
We live just 10 minutes away from William the Conqueror Castle, built in the 11th century.
The " Vaugueux " where you can find many restaurants is about 10 minutes away too.
The seaside is 20 minutes away by car.
The D Day beaches can be easily reached by car too in less than 1 hour.
Other famous places to visit such as le Mont Saint Michel and Saint Malo, in Brittany(1hr 1/2), Paris (2 hours by train or by car), the famous medieval town of Bayeux (cathedral and tapestry), etc.
Plenty of outdoor activities!

It was so easy to communicate with Celine and Jean-Bernard and we had a wonderful trip to their lovely home. Caen is a nice city with lots to do and the surrounding area with the Normandy beaches and countryside has much to offer. We had a great holiday and recommend this swap to others.
A lovely exchange, very easy to organize. Communication was fluid, not more frequent than necessary. Philip and Caroline's house is very comfortable and clean, and the garden in autumn was splendid. Nice watching squirrels while having breakfast! The neighborhood is very quiet and mostly pleasant. Lots of walking in the countryside around Turnbridge Wells and in the city itself, and hiking on the seaside (Bournemouth Seven Sisters and Hastings) Even a bit of cycling. London is easily reached by train. Our house was spotless when we returned.
Nous avons passé d'excellentes vacances dans l'appartement de Romana et Rudi. L'appartement, très propre et chaleureux, nous a semblé plus grand que qui est représenté sur les photos. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le balcon / terrasse avec une vue superbe! L'environnement est très calme et Niedernsill parfaitement situé pour explorer la région. Le contact avec nos hôtes a été toujours rapide et efficace et nous avons retrouvé notre maison très bien entretenue.
The flat was spacious and comfortable, very clean, located on a very lively Avenue, night and day. The centre was easy to reach with public transportation. The beach as well. We enjoyed our stay . The city and the surroundings have a lot to offer, much more than we expected. Everything was perfectly organized, It was Eva's family first exchange and it was perfectly organized! Communication was very fluid, before and during the exchange. They had spotted very useful addresses for us on Google Map, which was very handy and they had left us a car. On return, our house was as we had left it.
